The Green Alchemist’s Harvest
At the heart of this collection lies a Green-Banded Day Moth (Urania leilus), its wings etched with iridescent neon bands that flicker like witch-fire. This creature is a master of transmutation; as a crawling larva, it feasts upon the toxic milk of the Omphalea vine, weaving those poisons into its very fiber. It does not merely survive the toxin—it becomes the toxin, a winged warning to any who would dare consume it.
Resting below is a raw shard of Malachite, the "Stone of Transformation." Its swirling, verdant depths mirror the moth’s wings, but its magic comes with a jagged edge. Composed of copper carbonate hydroxide (Cu_2CO_3(OH)_2), this stone is as volatile as it is vibrant. Just as the moth carries the venom of its host plant, the Malachite holds a chemical toxicity that demands a steady, respectful hand.
The Ritual Components
The Familiar: A Green-Banded Day Moth, a symbol of metamorphosis and the power of internalizing one's environment.
The Earth-Core: Raw Malachite, used here to represent the heavy, metallic bones of the earth and the dangers of the unrefined.
The Offering: A hand-tied bundle of dried botanicals, bound in twine, grounding the ethereal green of the moth and stone with the scent of the hearth and the field.
“As above, so below; the poison in the leaf becomes the spirit in the wing, and the venom in the stone becomes the sight in the eye.”
